Random Table: Coriolis – The Great Dark | 6 things that factions want from Coriolites

The Coriolites are an almost (and in some cases actually) cult-like parallel society. They preserve not only traditions, religion, and (imagined) privileges from the Old Horizon, but also many tangible heirlooms. These are often superior to what the guilds are currently capable of producing. No wonder this arouses envy!

These are a series of plot hooks that can be used either when the group is supposed to carry out a heist for the respective faction, or to investigate a previous one for the Coriolites. Of course, you can also just use them as background elements.

The Random Table

D6Who wants what?
1The Gardeners Guild is devoted heart and soul to all botanical life in Ship City, and therefore also to feeding the population. That’s why it’s hard for them to accept that something they consider their domain is being withheld from them in the private garden of a Coriolite. But the Coriolite woman sees herself as the only one who is allowed to serve guests the delicacies traditionally known as “strawberries.” The good thing is that all you need to do is get hold of some seeds.
2The technology of the Old Horizon was capable of tremendous achievements. One example was the mobile ore refineries, which could even be used on a planet like Lubau, which was a glowing inferno. Being able to construct something similar would be an incredible advance for the Mining Combine. But the only construction drawings are locked away in the safe of an ungrateful, smug member of the Golgayad family.
3Why and how the portals in the Lost Horizon were closed is one of the greatest and most important mysteries of this world. Unfortunately, there is hardly any recorded data about the portals of the Old Horizon. However, one of the families is said to possess such data, and not just any data, but data about the blocked portal from the Hamura system to Taoan. Comparing this data could yield new and important insights for the Navigators Guild.
4If there was one structure built by the Portal Builders that had been explored from top to bottom, it was the Monolith of Kua. It served as the center for a faction of the Old Horizon. But for the same reason it became engraved in history, almost all knowledge of it was lost. Although the Explorers Guild could use it to advance their comparative research, the Nazar treat the last records as a kind of private family history.
5If the Machinists Guild could get their hands on one of the legendary black armor plates, which were last developed in the Old Horizon as protection against solar radiation, it would make exploring the Lost Horizon easier and safer in the long term. However, there are only rumors that one is on display somewhere in a Coriolite family’s collection. Unfortunately, no one knows exactly where, and all inquiries have remained unanswered, of course.
6For some Coriolites, there is only one thing they hate more than the guilds: other Coriolites. Because they compete with them for prestige in their near-closed society, they are always on the search for material to gain an advantage over the others. No wonder they would love to get their hands on the most complete (and possibly unofficial) family trees in order to uncover discrepancies.
